Paneer Tikka

Many of you especially kids like Paneer Tikka. In this recipe, the paneer pieces are marinated in spice mixture paste along with veggies, arranged in skewers and they are cooked either using oven, griller or in stove top method. You can prefer whatever method you like. The preparation method can be done in advance and stored in fridge. So when you throw a party at home this can be served as a starter. The tangy taste, enticing smoky flavour and the juiceiness of the paneer make this a wonderful and yummy dish. Serve this paneer tikka sprinkled with some chaat masala and mint chutney.

Method
  • Mix curd, spice powders, lemon juice and salt together and form a thick paste.
  • Marinate the paneer and capsicum pieces in it for 4 hrs. or overnight.
  • Preheat the oven to 220 degree Celsius.
  • Arrange/ insert the marinated paneer and capsicum pieces in the skewers alternatively and brush it with oil.
  • Place them on the baking tray lined with aluminium foil or place them on the wire rack and keep the tray/wirerack in the middle rack of the oven and grill them for 15 to 20 min's in grill/broil mode and turn the skewers in between and brush it with oil once again and grill it.

Notes:
  • To make hung curd - place the curd in a muslin cloth tie and hang it over the sink for 2 to 3 hrs to remove the excess water.
  • Place the skewers dipped in water for one hour before using it. This is to prevent the skewers from burning.
  • You can even add diced onion to this recipe.
  • For the stove top method- after the marination, heat 1 tbsp of oil in a non stick tawa, keep the flame to medium, place the arranged skewers and fry it evenly by turning them and cook until paneer and capsicum are lightly browned.

Super tempting dish and easy to make at home. Can you substitute paneer with tofu to make this Paneer Tikka recipe? I love the paneer tikka but tofu just opens more options to grill.
