Adai Dosa

Adai - a simple and delicious south indian pancake made with rice and lentils. Its a very popular breakfast recipe in Tamilnadu. Eaten along with coconut chutney adai will taste yummy. Coconut chutney is perfect pairing to adai. My mom makes a very good adai dosa. Her adai dosa would be crispier, light and tasty. Here is the recipe which i learnt from my mom.

Adai

Ingredients
  • Split Red Gram(Toor Dhal) - 1 cup
  • Bengal gram split ( Channa - 1/2 cup)
  • Split Green Gram - 1 1/4 cup
  • Black Gram split (Urad Dal) - 1/4 cup
  • Horse Gram - 1/4 cup (optional)
  • Par Boiled Rice - 1/2 cup

Adai
Method
  • Wash and soak all the grams and rice overnight or 5 hrs, except horse gram soak it separately.
  • Grind dry red chillies, cumin pepper seeds, curry leaves and handful of soaked gram and rice, so that the seeds and chillies will grind finely.
  • Then add the soaked dhal, rice, salt and grind to a coarse batter by adding little water.
